Penny - Reception
Reception Class have been reading the Colour Monster this week and have talked about different feelings and emotions. We've talked about what makes us happy and sad and the children have created their own colour monsters to show different emotions. We have also been talking about birthdays this week and learning that everyone celebrates in different ways. Some children had birthday parties in the Home Corner and made birthday cakes in the mud kitchen. We were very brave this week and visited our Year Six buddies in their classroom for the first time! We chose stories to bring with us and the buddies read them to us. We had our first PE lessons this week, where we played some ball games and started our Bike-ability lessons. Talk to me about our emotions. Words to use: it's okay to feel... anger, sad, fear, worry, happy, calm, love Tip of the week: Log in to Seesaw to see what your child is learning in class! We have been reading: The Colour Monster

Sterling - Year 1
In Year 1 this week the children have come back after the holiday ready to learn! The children had to be detectives as they investigated some objects linked to our new book. We had a map, a small model aeroplane and some clothes. The children came up with some fantastic ideas. They quickly found out that our new book to start this term is ‘Emma Jane’s aeroplane’ by Katie Haworth. They then enjoyed mapping the places that she visited in her aeroplane with a link to our new Geography topic; Maps. In Maths, this week the children have continued learning about mass and capacity and have been comparing different containers and exploring their capacities. In Science, as part of their unit on Animal Survival the children learnt about different groups of animals and sorted pictures according to their group. In Art, the children learnt about the difference between portraits and self-portraits. They discussed and evaluated different existing works of art including some by Matisse, Kahlo, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and others.

Krone - Year 5
Last Friday, we had an amazing time, when we visited Ryde Academy for a Year 5 transition day. We loved the activities, including Science, Computing and PE and were very proud to have won the PE competition! We loved the fact that Ryde Academy has such a large sports hall, which enabled us to try really fun sports activities such as 'mat surfing'. As the staff at Ryde had worked so hard to give us a good time, we decided to put our Writing skills to good use this week and wrote thank-you letters. After drafting and editing these, we copied them up in our very best handwriting, ready for delivery to Mr Doyle. We have also been doing really well in our Maths learning and are now confident in multiplying fractions, as well as being able to find fractions of whole numbers. Yet again, we have enjoyed our Financial Friday learning, including showing our understanding through the creation of posters.

Yen - Year 6
This week in Yen class we looked through our mock SATs papers and our Easter revision packs. We marked our revision packs and we worked through questions that we were unsure of. We found it useful to work together to answer questions we had found tricky. Our teachers were pleased to see how well we worked on our mock SATs papers. We could identify questions where we had not read the question carefully. We also asked confidently for help with specific questions across all the papers. In our science lessons this week we carried out a set of retrieval practices in preparation for our topic on classification and evolution. We were pleasantly surprised with how much we remembered about evolution, extinction and fossils. In our geography lesson on coastal management, we were pleased with our knowledge of the Island's coastal management systems: groynes, sea walls and gabions to name a few. The highlight of our week was seeing our Reception class buddies. We spent some time in the sunshine playing games with them. It was a great start to a new term!
